The central government’s decision to roll back the revenues from all sectors with the Azalea lockdown has been a scourge of the Union government. The central finance ministry has slashed its share The center of the corona is the incision
of taxes to the states by 29.5 percent in April. The Union Budget has clarified the share of central taxes to states from April this year based on an interim report by the 15th Finance Commission. For states that believe in the full amount of the total, the worsening of the share has only compounded their difficulties. Telangana is expected to release Rs 1,393 crore as central tax share to the state in April, while Rs 982 crore will be released to Andhra Pradesh instead of Rs 2,686 crore, the finance ministry said on Monday.
What is said in the Union Budget?
The Union Budget has stated that Telangana will receive Rs 16,726 crore as a central tax return as recommended by the Finance Committee for the financial year 2020-21. The total amount of Rs 1,393 crore a month is expected to be Rs. Andhra Pradesh will also get Rs 32,237 crore this fiscal, the Center said in its budget. In April this year, Rs 2,686 crore was due and Rs 1,892 crore was released. As a result of the nearly month-long lockdown, the state has lost taxes and non-tax revenues altogether, and government spending has increased in the wake of the Kovid-19. Government sources believe that the huge reduction in the share of taxes is putting them in even greater financial difficulties as the states seek special support from the Center. Telangana Chief Minister KCR has written to the Center to give five percent of GDP to the states through helicopter money or quantitative easing (QE). While there has been no positive announcement so far from the Center’s financial contribution, the latest cut in tax share for April to 29.5% has been the subject of debate.
