Senior advocate Vedula Venkataramana’s arguments on behalf of a petitioner… The state government does not have the power to bring the ordinance. He explained that the legislature has only the power to legislate in determining the terms and conditions of service of the SEC. Rameshkumar is not to be pursued as an SEC. He explained that the government has nowhere stated in the ordinance that it is for election reforms.
Senior Advocate B Adinarayana Rao, appearing on behalf of APCC Executive President Sheikh Mastanwali, said that the Constitution has protected the
people. He said it was inappropriate for the government to say that the lawsuit they filed was challenging the ordinance. The Chief Electoral Commissioner of India and the State Election Commissioner asserted that they have the same responsibilities and constitutional protections.
